About Gross Scientific Wisdom
GSW is a post-GDP metric proposed by the Global Wisdom Authority. It measures whether a society is actually getting wiser — not just wealthier — by scoring the emotional, protective, and moral capacity of its people and institutions.
Population-level emotional health, adjusted downward by the Shunt Index — the share of society coping through destructive escape (addiction, violence, apathy).
How well a nation protects its most vulnerable — orphans, the elderly, minorities, and the mentally ill. A civilization is only as wise as its treatment of its weakest members.
Ratio of beneficial investment (education, mental health, care) to detrimental investment (weapons, addictive tech, extraction). Bounded and weighted into the composite.
The corruption multiplier is the great equalizer: institutional rot cancels out even the highest raw pillar scores.
GDP counts a prison, an oil spill cleanup, and a school as equal contributions. GSW doesn't. It exposes the difference between a nation that is growing and one that is actually flourishing — and gives policymakers a dashboard that rewards human optimization instead of raw throughput.
